Article: Why did the Holy Spirit descend like a dove during Jesus’ baptism?
Of all the animals for the Holy Spirit to appear as, why did God choose a dove? Have you thought about that question before? Why not a rhinoceros or a pterodactyl? It’s a question worth considering.

when Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist,
the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus in the visible form of a dove. This event is so familiar to most Christians that the dove has become a recognized symbol for the person or presence of the Holy Spirit. Yet, if we pause to ask “why a dove?”
the answer is not altogether obvious.
