This tool allows a Pastor or Sunday School teacher to plan up to a full calendar year in advance with a preaching / teaching schedule. Multiple calendars can be generated to accommodate Sunday Morning & Evening Services or Wednesday Night Prayer Service Sermon Series as well. With just a few clicks using the Sermon Manager you will know where you are going in the sermon / teaching series, what you have preached through up to a certain date and will allow you to review what was preached in previous sermons. Prayer and planning is key to any successful Church preaching & teaching ministry.
Sermon Builder
Sermon Builder piggybacks off of the Sermon Manager tool. What I really really really like (did I mention the word “really”) is how Logos Bible Software generates professional and formatted slides as I prepare my sermon. This will save an enormous amount of time for any preacher & teacher of the Word. I would always dread the fact that I had to make sure that my sermon was fully complete a day or two ahead of Sunday in order to make time to prepare slides with aesthetically pleasing backgrounds and formatting. Well now Logos Bible Software can do that for me. Sermon Builder also allows you to select text or quotes and will generate a slide for it with a click of a button. If you like to preach or teach with a handout to give to the congregation or your students, you can easily generate one with the Sermon Builder. Handouts can be customized to a fill in the blank format or outline format. I will personally use the handout function to create quizzes and tests for my students in my Sunday School class. This is a game changer for me as I will have more time to pray and rehearse my sermon or Sunday school class as opposed to creating and formatting slides.
Preaching Mode
Preaching Mode piggybacks off the Sermon Builder tool. Once you have built your sermon and are ready to preach it, you can simply click on the Preach icon in the upper right-hand corner of the Sermon Builder tool.
Preaching Mode displays the actual time in the upper left-hand corner and a timer in the upper right-hand corner. The timer has warning settings that can be activated to give you a 1- or 2-minute warning and flash when you have gone over time. Preaching mode also allows you to increase the font size of your sermon for those that have trouble seeing like me. Dual functionality within Preaching Mode allows you to swipe horizontally as in an e-book or scroll vertically to move through the contents of your sermon and slides.
Thus Sermon Manager, Sermon Builder, and Preaching Mode will take your preparation for preaching and teaching to a whole new level. The best part is all these tools are operational across all devices whether it be a desktop or mobile device such as a tablet.
Reading Plans
Every person has had the experience of starting a book but never reading it until completion. With Logos Bible Software you can personalize your own reading plan in order to finish reading a book by a certain date or you can assign a reading plan to your Sunday School group. The Reading Plans tools can track your progress. You can also set alerts for a specific time directly to your phone to add discipline to your reading plan. Dark Mode
One last caveat to mention about Logos 9 is Dark Mode. Of all the feature upgrades that users could have requested, Dark Mode was actually the number one requested feature upgrade. I’m sure this was easy enough for the developers and now all the night owls are cheering.
