Terminology Tuesday: Ludwig Feuerbach
German philosopher who developed the projection theory of religion in which God is understood as a projection of unfulfilled human potential. Thus, according to this theory, religion is really anthropology. Feuerbach was a materialist who had a strong influence on Karl Marx. Feuerbach held that human progress demands a demystification of the religious consciousness and a return to concrete problems of human existence.
