Terminology Tuesday: Christology
The branch of Christian theology that attempts to clarify the identity and nature of Jesus of Nazareth, understood as “the Christ” (from the Greek equivalent to the Hebrew term Messiah, which means “anointed one”). Within orthodox Christianity, Christology is concerned with understanding how Jesus can be both divine and human, and with the significance of his life, death, and resurrection. See also incarnation.
